Acceptable Use Policy
This policy describes the responsible and permitted use of Register.ly websites, systems, and services.
General rule
You may use the Services only for lawful purposes and in a manner that protects users, networks, systems, and the operation and reputation of Register.ly and its suppliers. You are responsible for Customer Content and activity conducted through your account.
Illegal and harmful activity
You must not use the Services to create, host, publish, transmit, solicit, facilitate, or promote activity that violates applicable law; infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights; exploits or endangers children; facilitates human trafficking or non-consensual sexual content; makes credible threats; or supports fraud, theft, extortion, or unlawful evasion of legal controls.
Security abuse
You must not distribute malware; operate phishing or credential-harvesting services; gain or attempt unauthorized access; intercept data without authorization; conduct denial-of-service attacks; scan, probe, or test systems without permission; evade security controls; conceal malicious activity; or use compromised systems, accounts, or credentials.
Good-faith security testing is permitted only when you own the target or have the target owner’s documented authorization and the activity does not affect other customers, shared infrastructure, or third parties.
Messaging and unsolicited communications
You must not send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, deceptive communications, address-harvesting campaigns, or messages that violate applicable anti-spam, privacy, or telecommunications law. Messages must accurately identify the sender and provide legally required consent and unsubscribe mechanisms.
Network and platform integrity
You must not interfere with or unreasonably burden the Services or connected networks; circumvent resource, bandwidth, rate, storage, or account limits; operate unauthorized relays; falsify source information; repeatedly create accounts to evade restrictions; or materially degrade service for others.
Domain-name abuse
You must not register or use domains for phishing, malware distribution, botnet command and control, deceptive impersonation, trademark abuse, unlawful content, spam, or other prohibited conduct. Domain use is also subject to applicable registry, registrar, ICANN, and dispute-resolution rules for .LY names, the current NIC.LY Domain Name Registration Regulations.
Intellectual-property complaints
If you believe content or a domain used through the Services infringes your rights, notify [email protected] or use https://register.ly/contact/. Include your contact details, the material and location, the right claimed, the basis of the complaint, and any legally required declaration. Register.ly may forward the complaint and request more information. A complaint does not guarantee removal, transfer, or disclosure.
Abuse reports
Report suspected abuse to [email protected] or https://register.ly/contact/. Include the affected hostname, IP address or URL, date and time with time zone, relevant logs or headers, and a concise description. Do not send passwords, private keys, or unnecessary sensitive data.
Investigation and enforcement
Register.ly may investigate suspected violations and request information, evidence preservation, remediation, or removal or restriction of content. Depending on severity and urgency, Register.ly may warn, rate-limit, block traffic, quarantine resources, suspend or terminate affected Services, or refer a matter to a supplier or competent authority.
Register.ly may act immediately where reasonably necessary to protect people, infrastructure, other customers, or legal compliance. Where practicable, Register.ly will give notice and an opportunity to remedy. Enforcement may consider intent, severity, recurrence, cooperation, and available alternatives.
No general monitoring duty
Register.ly does not undertake to monitor all Customer Content or activity. A failure to enforce this AUP in one instance is not a waiver. Register.ly may use proportionate automated and manual measures to protect the Services and investigate abuse.
Customer safeguards
You must maintain appropriate security, keep software and credentials current, restrict access, monitor systems, preserve relevant logs, and promptly address abuse originating from your account. If you provide services to others, you must maintain and enforce terms no less protective than this AUP.
Changes and contact
Register.ly may update this AUP as described in the Terms of Service. Questions and reports: [email protected]. Client area: https://my.register.ly.
